A conversation with Emmersyn

It has been great spending more time with the kids since Mohamed has been away.  I have really enjoyed my time with them.  Today when I picked up Emmersyn from school, she was so excited to see me.  She ran to me and gave me a huge hug.  While hugging me she said,

"I missed you soooooo much, Mommie.  I love you."

How does this not just melt your heart?  This is something a parent would typically say to their child, right?  Yeah, but not in my case....it is what my child says to me.  She is so sweet!

Then, once we got into the car, she says, "I want to go to the coffee house."  (Tim Hortons)

Me:  "Mommie doesn't want to get coffee now.  I'll get you Timbits later."

Emmersyn:  "I don't want Timbits.  I want coffee.  Don't make Emmy cry."

Are you kidding me?  There might be a problem that my 3 year-old is addicted to coffee and needed her 2 o'clock caffeine kick....and talk about manipulation....."Don't make Emmy cry!"  And before that, "I missed you sooooo much Mommie.  I love you!"  So, what did I do?  Like any good parent, I turned the car around to go to Tim Hortons to get a coffee for my 3 year-old!

How could I possibly resist this cute, but manipulative face????  And....the look says she knows it!

She decided to have her coffee out on the front porch!

The look of satisfaction....

She is really enjoying her coffee....

Trying to savor the last little bit that was left in her cup.

After her little coffee break, she was on a mission to check the mail which hasn't been checked in over a week.

On the way, she stopped to inspect some creepy crawler!

Good thing she is in the habit of checking the mail with her daddy, because otherwise I would not have known which mailbox was ours.  I don't think I've ever checked the mail in the 2 1/2 years we lived in this house.

It looks like she is a little annoyed after sorting through the mail and noting that more money will be going to bills rather than toys!

After a quick change of clothes.... it was time to pick up Cameron from school....

Cameron grabbed his angry pig balloon once he got home and was ready to play after a long week of school.  Time to relax and have some fun!
