Toronto, Day 1

Here are some of the pictures from our weekend in Toronto.  It was a great little getaway, and we had fun hanging out with Nicole, Steve, and the kids.  We were in Toronto for 3 1/2 days, so I'll post the Toronto pictures by day.  In this first picture Emmersyn was psychologically preparing herself for the four hour drive.

We finally made it into the car, all packed and ready to go, just a few hours behind schedule.  Pretty impressive considering I had an "emergency" patient to see, Cameron had swim lessons, and we had to pack for two kids and two adults.

We only forgot one item, my contact solution which I realized just before hopping onto the 401, so we turned around and made one final stop back at home.  So, midway into the trip, this is what we were all doing... Cameron was napping....

Mohamed was the chauffeur....

Emmersyn was getting comfy by taking off her shoes...

And I was just chilling!

Here we are just approaching Toronto...

Another picture of arriving at our destination.  We were getting excited.

Here we are checking into the hotel.  Both Nicole and I used price line to find our hotel and were hoping to end up at the same hotel.  No such luck.  Or should I say, we lucked out!  Just wait to hear about Nicole's hotel experience...hopefully she'll have time to blog about it soon.  So, Mohamed checked us in trying to get us two double beds, seeing that our room had one king.  That wasn't going to work with the four of us.  He was successful.

They were just waiting to get the room key...

So, the first thing the kids did upon entering the hotel room was to declare what bed was theirs.  All I was thinking when I saw Emmersyn get into bed was, "there is no way you are going to be able to control all these disgusting germs....just try to ignore it."  I find hotels so repulsive!  But, in order to go on vacations, this is a phobia I've been working on.

Once again, here I was trying to control myself from freaking out when she was now going under the covers!  Good thing she has a great immune system!

Cameron opted for jumping on the bed.  I didn't really mind this because I wasn't as concerned about the germs getting on the bottoms of his feet!  I was a bit concerned about him falling off the bed onto the nightstand, so we ended up rearranging the furniture to avoid any potential hazards.

Just trying to get into my first picture on our Toronto trip.

We were so hungry and walked a bit downtown Toronto to find some place neat to eat.  However, after the long drive, the kids were not up to lots of walking and the stroller became problematic.  Emmersyn was being very selfish and wouldn't let Cameron hitch a ride in the back of the stroller.  So, we ended up driving 4 hours for Subway!

After she was all fed from her sandwich and cookie, she was ready to hit the town!

Nicole, Steve, and the kids decided to stop by to say hi and to solidify the plans for tomorrow.  Here Mohamed is trying to get everyone to try some rice pudding.  The only brave one was Nicholas.  That kid will try anything!  I love that about him.  Anyway, Nick tried it and did not like it.  I can't remember what he stated about the taste, but it was funny.

Here Amanda is entertaining the little ones.  She is soooo good with the babies.  Mohamed is always so impressed with her patience and the way she interacts with both Emmersyn and Cameron.

And what else would these two handsome boys be doing other than playing Nintendo DS???

So, that wraps up Day 1 in Toronto.  Day 2 we headed to Canada's Wonderland!  I'll post those pictures next!
