Happy Civic Holiday

So today is Civic Holiday here in Canada.  And, to educate myself on all of these Canadian holidays that we don't celebrate in the States (Family Day is another) I thought I would do a bit of research.  Who knows, this might be a question on the Canadian citizenship test.  This is what I found out... "The date of the Civic Holiday is historically linked to the abolition of slavery in the British Empire, but was chosen primarily for its timing: between Canada Day and Labour Day there were no recognizable holidays, one of the longest stretches on the Canadian calendar without a holiday."  How interesting, eh?  Canada needed to throw in a holiday because there was one month in the calender year without a holiday.  So, why not choose the first day of the month that has no holiday and make it a holiday.  These Canadians LOVE their holidays.

Anyway, we took advantage of the beautiful weather on this holiday and did some playing outside.  But first, check out the new birthday outfits the kids are modeling off.

Cameron LOVES his Super Mario pjs.  He wears them all the time.

Here is the water fun.  Cameron was so excited that he finally got to try out his shoes from Grammie and Grampie.

Check out Emmersyn's massive arm muscles!  I'm scared.  She has my huge arm genes. Poor thing. No more gymnastics for her!  I'm signing her up for cross country next session!

Check out the fence!

After his artwork on the fence, he took to doing some damage to his sister.

She finally had enough!

Why not bring some rocks into the pool?
